Overview

Strabismus is a condition in which the eyes do not look at the same point, one or both eyes may turn inwards, outwards, upwards, or downwards. Strabismus surgery is a surgical procedure performed to strengthen or weaken the eye muscles. This allows the eyes to be better aligned and work together. Strabismus surgery is usually performed in children, but can also be done in adults.

Daily Plan

  • Day 1:
    • Arrival in Istanbul and transfer to the hospital.
    • Pre-operative consultation and detailed eye examination with your ophthalmologist.
    • Assessment of the degree of strabismus and the condition of the eye muscles.
  • Day 2:
    • Strabismus surgery.
    • Application of eye patch after surgery (if necessary).
    • Rest and use of eye drops.
    • Hospitalization is usually not required, you can be discharged the same day.
  • Day 3:
    • Post-operative check-up by your ophthalmologist.
    • Removal of eye patch (if necessary) and check of eye alignment.
    • Continue using eye drops.
  • Day 4-5:
    • Rest at the hotel.
    • Continue using eye drops.
    • Gradual return to daily activities according to your doctor’s recommendations.
  • Day 6:
    • Return to your country.

Post-Operative Care

  • Use your eye drops regularly.
  • Avoid rubbing and scratching your eyes.
  • Protect your eyes from dust and dirt.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions and schedule a follow-up appointment with a local ophthalmologist after returning to your country.
