Overview

Laser eye surgery is a surgical procedure used to correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. An excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea, allowing light to focus properly on the retina. This reduces or eliminates the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Daily Plan

  • Day 1:
    • Arrival in Istanbul and transfer to the hospital.
    • Pre-operative consultation and detailed eye examination with your ophthalmologist.
    • Determination of the laser eye surgery technique (LASIK, PRK, SMILE, etc.).
  • Day 2:
    • Laser eye surgery.
    • Use of eye drops and rest after surgery.
    • Hospitalization is usually not required, you can be discharged the same day.
  • Day 3:
    • Post-operative check-up by your ophthalmologist.
    • Vision check and continue using eye drops.
  • Day 6:
    • Return to your country.

Note: For the PRK method, an examination is performed on the 5th day after the procedure. The patient can return home the next day.

Post-Operative Care

  • Use your eye drops regularly.
  • Avoid rubbing and scratching your eyes.
  • Protect your eyes from dust and dirt.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions and schedule a follow-up appointment with a local ophthalmologist after returning to your country.

    • A: Pain is usually not felt during the surgery. There may be mild discomfort after LASIK surgery, which subsides the next day. With the PRK method, there is pain for the first 2-3 days after surgery. The pain will be gone by the fifth day. Eye drops reduce pain during this process.
